Mission: Find a Calendar and Menu planner
August 28, 2012
Calendar and Menu planner
Today's mission was to find a good medium for tracking my family's activities, important dates, and keep a menu plan all in plan sight where it's easy to reference. We used to have a universal dry erase calendar on our refrigerator, but after nearly nine years of use it has seen it's better days. So begins my mission.
My first thought was turn to the Internet, surely someone has created this for me on a dry erase board. As I sifted through many images on Google's Shopping page, it dawned on me I didn't need to buy something - I could make something with things I already had lying around the house and a little ingenuity.
After a little time tinkering and toying with various settings in Excel and Photoshop, I created the calendar and menu planner you see to the right. While printable calendars are great and easy to access, I wanted this calendar to be more eco-friendly. I decided I needed a way to make this calendar reusable. I could use an ordinary picture to encase the calendar , but I realized that wouldn't work for me because I wanted to hang this information on my refrigerator. So my second that was - page protectors! The calendar is light-weight and can be easily hung on the refrigerator with one of the many magnets I already have on there.
Computer & Printer
Software that reads JPEG files
Clear Page Protectors
Dry Erase Marker
Costs to me - $0
This project didn't cost me anything other than a little bit of my time because I used my resources wisely and utilized items I already had on hand.
